History of Tembusu Trees

These Tembusu trees (Cyrtophyllum fragrans) are said to have been planted in the SITC era and are about 90 years old, as old as the main SITC buildings. These trees has its own sentimental and historical value, especially among the alumni of this college. These trees become a decoration and shade for the public who attend certain events that take place on the field such as sports final matches. These Tembusu trees are now included in the “Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI) Historical Heritage Route”.

Pokok Tembusu (Cyrtophyllum fragrans) ini dikatakan telah ditanam pada zaman SITC dan berumur kira-kira 90 tahun, seusia dengan bangunan utama SITC. Pokok ini mempunyai nilai sentimental dan sejarah yang tersendiri terutama di kalangan alumni kolej ini. Pokok ini menjadi hiasan dan teduhan kepada orang ramai yang menghadiri acara tertentu yang berlangsung di padang seperti perlawanan akhir sukan. Pokok Tembusu kini termasuk dalam “Laluan Warisan Sejarah Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris (UPSI)”.
